There are places in books that become more than settings.
They become home.
For me, Inspiration Island has always been one of those places.
When I first dreamed about Graham washing ashore on a remote island after surviving a plane crash, I had no idea I was creating a place I would one day miss myself.
Over the years, Inspiration Island became much more than the backdrop for a story.
It became a community.
A family.
A place where broken people discovered that healing isn’t something you find alone.
It’s something you experience together.
If you’ve read the series before, I imagine there are moments that still make you smile.
Perhaps it’s Captain Taka saying more with two words than most people manage in twenty.
Maybe it’s Rebecca’s incredible cooking and the way food always seemed to bring everyone together.
Perhaps it’s Blaine’s unwavering friendship or Sara’s quiet wisdom that anchored Graham whenever life threatened to pull him off course.
Or maybe it’s simply the peaceful silence of the onsen, where words became unnecessary and hearts somehow found the answers they had been searching for.
Then there was Master Akio.
Patient.
Wise.
Occasionally mischievous.
Always seeing something in Graham long before Graham could see it in himself.
His lessons were never really about martial arts.
They were about becoming fully alive.
As I wrote A Warrior’s Heart: The Promise, I found myself smiling more than once.
Not because I knew what was coming.
But because it felt like sitting down with old friends after years apart.
The conversations were familiar.
The laughter returned easily.
Even the challenges felt like they belonged.
Some stories end.
Others simply pause while life catches up.
A Warrior’s Heart has always felt like the second kind.
Sixteen years ago, Graham’s journey began with a dream.
Next week, that journey continues.
Whether you’ve been with me since The Awakening or you’re discovering Inspiration Island for the very first time, I hope you’ll find something waiting for you there.
A lesson.
A laugh.
A moment of peace.
Or perhaps just the gentle reminder that no matter how difficult life becomes, there is always a path back to your heart.
One week from today, we’ll walk the beaches of Inspiration Island together again.
We’ll hear the waves.
We’ll visit old friends.
And we’ll begin the next chapter.
Thank you for waiting.
Thank you for believing in these characters.
And thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing this journey with you.
I’ll see you on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Welcome home.
Go in Peace,
L. Neil Thrussell
