For years, people have asked me the same question:
“Will there ever be another A Warrior’s Heart book?”
For a long time, my answer was honestly…
“I don’t think so.”
When I finished A Warrior’s Heart: Convocation in 2015, I believed Graham’s journey had come to its natural conclusion. His story felt complete. Master Akio had shared the lessons he had come to teach, and I quietly closed that chapter of my life.
Or at least I thought I had.
Then something unexpected happened.
In July of 2023, after nearly eight years of silence, Master Akio showed up again.
Not as a vague idea.
Not as a passing thought.
As clearly as he had when I first dreamed him into existence sixteen years earlier.
His message was wonderfully simple:
“We’re not done.”
As any writer will tell you, there are moments when you know a story isn’t coming from your imagination alone. The characters become so real that they begin telling you where they want to go next.
That’s exactly what happened.
Over the following months, Graham, Sara, Blaine, Rebecca, Captain Taka, and the entire Inspiration Island family slowly came back to life.
It felt less like writing a new novel and more like returning home after being away for far too long.
One of the greatest joys has been discovering how much these characters have grown.
Graham is no longer the broken, cynical man readers first met in A Warrior’s Heart: The Awakening. He’s now a husband, a father, a teacher, and a man who continues to discover that growth never really ends.
Because that’s the truth, isn’t it?
Life isn’t about reaching a place where we’ve finally “arrived.”
It’s about continuing to learn, continuing to love, and continuing to become.
That has always been the heart of the A Warrior’s Heart series.
As we count down to the release of A Warrior’s Heart: The Promise on August 18, 2026, I’ll continue sharing stories from behind the scenes, favourite memories from writing the series, and a few sneak peeks at what’s waiting inside the pages.
For everyone who has walked beside Graham and Master Akio over the past sixteen years…
