Manifesto Definition:

  1. a public declaration of policy and aims, especially one issued before an election by a political party or candidate.

A personal manifesto is a declaration of your core values and beliefs, what you stand for, and how you intend to live your life. It serves as a daily reminder of who you are and what you stand for. It is also a compass to guide you toward your ultimate goals. Which in turn helps you make decisions, such as if certain things and people belong in your life. As well as it helps you define the kind of person you want to be and can help you make choices, even seemingly mundane choices such as what to eat. Who do you spend time with? Where do you spend most of your time? When you really take a look within and really live your deepest and truest values. Your life begins to take on new meaning and can become much simpler. Why, because you are clear on what you know and what you want in your life, and what you are willing to do or NOT do!

The best part of a personal manifesto is that it’s, well, personal!

The Benefits of a Personal Manifesto

What makes a Personal Manifesto so valuable is the fact that it is a constant source of inspiration to you, and one that can often be easily read every day.

When I first developed my Personal MinifestoI I reviewed it every day. It helped focuses my mind by reminding me of my priorities. How I want to show up in the world and live my life. It also assited me in reinforcing my core values. Over and over and over again. Repitition is the Key to Success!!!

Your Personal Manifesto isn’t for you to show people, although, if you want to, I know that there are some people out there it could help. It’s more of a medium through which your present self can corelate with your future self. (How you are now to how you want to be in the future.)

The most interesting part of a Personal Manifesto is that no one else can do it for you. You’re the one who gets to choose who you want to be, what you want to believe and how you want to live your life. And while all that freedom is great, it can also make it very hard for us to weed out distractions and focus on our fundamental beliefs. To help you dig deep, I’ve broken down the process into these 5 steps:

  1. Take Stock.
  2. Visualize.
  3. Analyze.
  4. Boldly Proclaim.
  5. Review.

Take your time as you go through each step, and use the questions to help you refine and clarify.

My Personal Manifesto

I Bring Wholeness to MY life

My personal journey in creating a Personal Manifesto started with the creation of a personal philosophy.  I created an entire movement that can be found on the Shin Dao website

My philosophy started with the creation of 4 guiding pillars or overarching principles that I wanted to live my life by!
Once I created the 4 guiding principles.  My next step was defining how I was going to live those 4 guiding pillars.
So I came up with 12 tenets that were how I wanted to live my life.

12 Tenets I live my life by

  • I Connect with the Earth
  • I Let Go of MY Busy-ness
  • I Celebrate the Present
  • I Seek Meaning in MY Life
  • I Embrace Life, I Embrace the Sacred
  • I Love Freely, I Love Deeply
  • I Affect Others
  • I Never Walk Alone
  • I am the Light
  • I Celebrate Life’s Little Joys
  • My Body is a Temple
  • I Go in Peace
