And today, I find myself sitting with something much more powerful than excitement.
Gratitude.
To everyone who bought the book, downloaded it, shared the launch, sent me a message, offered encouragement, or simply celebrated this moment with me…
Thank you.
Truly.
It warms my heart more than I can properly put into words.
There is a strange vulnerability in releasing a book.
For months—or years—you live with the characters, the scenes, the doubts, the rewrites, the late nights, the inspiration, and the occasional moment when you wonder whether the whole thing is brilliant or whether you have completely lost your mind.
Then launch day arrives.
And suddenly, the story is no longer yours alone.
It belongs to the reader.
That is both terrifying and beautiful.
You Chose to Walk With Me
Every time someone purchases one of my books, I am reminded that they are making a choice.
They are choosing to spend their time with my words.
They are choosing to enter a world I created.
They are choosing to walk beside Graham, Master Akio, and the family of characters who have become so incredibly real to me over the years.
That means something.
A great deal, actually.
In a world where we are all bombarded with endless choices, distractions, books, movies, videos, emails, and social media posts, you chose to stop for a moment and say:
“I want to read this story.”
I don’t take that lightly.
This Book Carries a Piece of Me
A Warrior’s Heart: The Promise is more than another book in the series.
It represents sixteen years of my own journey as a writer.
But it also carries many of the things that matter deeply to me as a man.
Friendship.
Family.
Legacy.
Courage.
Love.
Loss.
Growth.
The willingness to keep walking even when we don’t completely know where the path is leading.
And, of course, the Way of the Heart.
Those themes are not simply ideas I decided would make a good story.
They are lessons I continue to wrestle with, live, forget, rediscover, and hopefully understand a little more deeply as the years pass.
Perhaps that is why releasing this book feels so personal.
To the Readers Who Came Back
There are readers who have been with Graham since The Awakening.
Some of you have travelled through Perseverance and Convocation and waited a very long time to return to Inspiration Island.
You had every opportunity to forget about these characters.
But you didn’t.
Some of you kept asking me:
“When is the next one coming?”
For years, my answer was essentially:
“There isn’t one.”
Oops.
Apparently, neither I nor Master Akio got the final memo.
To those longtime readers, thank you for coming back.
Your connection to these characters helped remind me that their story still had life in it.
And To the New Readers
Some of you are discovering A Warrior’s Heart for the very first time.
Welcome.
I hope somewhere inside these pages you find more than entertainment.
I hope you find a sentence that makes you stop.
A moment that makes you think.
A character who reminds you of yourself.
A lesson that arrives at exactly the right time.
Or perhaps just a quiet reminder that there is still goodness, courage, love, and possibility in this wonderfully messy human experience.
If that happens, then the years spent writing these stories were worth every minute.
And Yes, I Have Copies!
Several of you have already asked me if I would have copies of The Promise available directly from me.
The answer is yes!
I have copies of the book in my hands, and I would love to get one into yours.
So, to those who have already asked—and anyone else who would like a copy—reach out to me and let’s arrange a time for you to get your book.
There is something pretty special about being able to hand someone a book that began as an idea, became thousands of words on a screen, and somehow ended up as a real book I can hold in my hands.
And if I get the opportunity to personally put that book into yours, even better.
Today, I Simply Want to Say Thank You
There is always pressure around a book launch.
Sales numbers.
Amazon rankings.
Reviews.
Algorithms.
Marketing.
All the things an author is apparently supposed to obsess over.
And yes, those things matter.
But today I don’t want to obsess over numbers.
Today I want to remember the people behind those numbers.
You.
A sale is not simply a number on a dashboard.
It is a person.
Someone decided to support my work.
Someone chose my book.
Someone invited my story into their home.
And that genuinely warms my heart.
So wherever you are reading this from, please know this:
I appreciate you.
I appreciate your support.
I appreciate your encouragement.
I appreciate your trust in me as a storyteller.
And I am incredibly grateful that after sixteen years, I still get to share Graham, Master Akio, Inspiration Island, and the Way of the Heart with you.
The book may have launched yesterday.
But the journey is only beginning.
Thank you for walking it with me.
In Love and Light,
L. Neil Thrussell
Author of the A Warrior’s Heart series
